Specialty Programs
Yacht & Aircraft Financing
One desk for the two assets banks say no to. Yacht loans from $200,000 to $5,000,000 and aircraft financing from $500,000 to $70,000,000 and beyond — structured by advisors who do this every day, nationwide, on one application.
- ✓Yachts $200K–$5M
- ✓Aircraft $500K–$70M+
- ✓2–10 yr and 24–180 mo terms
- ✓50–75% yacht LTV
- ✓Nationwide, all 50 states

Two Programs, One Advisor
Marine and Aviation Lending, Handled Together.
Most lenders do one or the other, and neither well. Northwood runs both under one Specialty Programs desk, so a boatyard in Newport Beach and a hangar at John Wayne get the same treatment: one advisor, one document list, and a decision in 24–72 hours once the file is complete.

How a Specialty Deal Gets Done
- Tell us what you're buying. Year, make, model and length for a vessel; year, make, model, serial number and total time for an aircraft. Purchase agreement or current payoff if you're refinancing.
- Send the financials. Signed credit application, personal financial statement, and the last four months of business bank statements downloaded as PDFs.
- Get a written offer. We match the file to the programs that actually fund it and send rate, term, LTV and closing costs in writing — typically 24–72 hours after a complete application.
- Survey, insure, close. Yachts add a marine survey; aircraft add a pre-buy inspection, title search and insurance binding. Then funds go out and the asset is registered.
What You'll Need
- Completed and signed credit application
- Asset details — vessel: year, make, model, length, condition; aircraft: year, make, model, serial number, total time and engine programs
- Purchase agreement, letter of intent, or current payoff statement for a refinance
- Personal financial statement and identification
- Ownership structure and intended use (Part 91 or Part 135 for aircraft)
- Property details, if you're pledging real estate as additional collateral
Need more than the asset supports? Pledging real estate as additional collateral raises what you qualify for on either program. Financing a boat or jet for a business you own and operate? That is exactly what these programs are built for.
We review specialty applications nationwide, including California, Florida and Texas. Based at John Wayne (SNA), Long Beach (LGB), Newport Harbor or Dana Point? Read our Orange County yacht and aircraft financing guide.
Specialty Programs Questions
- What are Northwood's specialty programs?
- Specialty Programs is our marine and aviation lending desk: yacht financing for vessels 25 to 100 feet, and aircraft financing and leasing for business jets, turboprops and helicopters. Both are handled by the same advisors, on the same application, with the same nationwide reach.
- What are the yacht financing terms?
- Yacht loans run $200,000 to $5,000,000 for vessels 25 to 100 feet that are 10 years old or newer. Terms are 2 to 10 years at 50–75% loan-to-value, and real estate can be pledged as additional collateral to increase the amount or strengthen the file.
- What are the aircraft financing terms?
- Aircraft transactions run from $500,000 to $70,000,000 and larger. Terms are 24 to 180 months with amortizations up to 20 years or more, structured as loans, operating or capital leases, sale-leasebacks or refinancing, for Part 91 and Part 135 operators.
- Can I finance a yacht and an aircraft together?
- Yes. If you are buying or refinancing both, we can review them as one relationship so the collateral, down payment and documentation are coordinated instead of underwritten twice.
- Do you finance both purchase and refinance transactions?
- Yes. Purchase, refinance and cash-out are considered on yachts, and loans, leases, sale-leasebacks and refinancing are available on aircraft, subject to the asset and your profile.
- Do I need strong credit?
- Pricing is risk-based. Strong credit unlocks the best terms, and challenged-credit aircraft and marine files are reviewed case by case — a larger down payment, longer seasoning or additional real estate collateral usually opens the file back up.
- How long does a decision take?
- Credit decisions typically come back in 24–72 hours once the application is complete. Yacht closings add a marine survey; aircraft closings add a pre-buy inspection, title search and insurance binding.
- Do you lend outside California?
- Yes. Northwood is based in Orange County and funds in all 50 states, including Florida, Texas and Washington, wherever the vessel or aircraft is based.
