How It Works
The yacht serves as the primary collateral, and we lend 50–75% of its value based on the vessel's age, length, condition and market comparables. Example: a yacht valued at $1,000,000 at 65% LTV supports a loan of up to $650,000. Illustration only — not a quote.
Need more than the vessel supports? Pledging real estate as additional collateral can increase the amount you qualify for or strengthen your approval.

Frequently asked questions
- What size yachts can be financed?
- Northwood programs finance yachts from 25 to 100 feet in length, with transaction sizes from $200,000 to $5,000,000. The vessel must be 10 years old or newer at the time of funding.
- How much of the purchase price can I finance?
- Loans run from 50% to 75% of the yacht's value (loan-to-value), depending on the vessel, its age and condition, and your overall profile. A higher down payment generally improves pricing and approval odds.
- Can I use real estate as additional collateral?
- Yes. If the yacht alone doesn't support the amount you need, we accept real estate as additional collateral to secure the financing. This can raise the effective LTV or strengthen a file with limited credit history.
- What are the loan terms?
- Terms run 2 to 10 years. Final rate and structure depend on the vessel, loan size, LTV and your credit profile, and are provided in a written offer before you commit.
- Do you finance older yachts?
- The program is limited to yachts 10 years old or newer. If your vessel is older, talk to us — real estate-backed options may still be available using property equity instead of the vessel itself.
- Can I refinance or pull cash out of a yacht I already own?
- Yes. Purchase, refinance and cash-out transactions are considered, as long as the yacht meets the age, length and value guidelines.
